Skills covered in this course. Course Transcript - One of the most useful skills you can have when you use Excel is selecting cells or groups of cells. In this movie I will teach you some techniques to select cells in your worksheets. I have Monthly sales data, or Revenue data for calendar years 2010 through 2015 and let's say that I want to select certain values from here. I can find the value for February 2013 in cell E6, and click that cell. It's now selected. If I want to select a group of cells then I can click the first cell, such as B5, and then drag until I've highlighted the cells that I want to select.
In this case that is cells B5 through C8. If I want to select disconnected groups of cells, so for example, I currently have B5 through C8 selected, but let's say that I also wanted to select cells F5 through G6. While this range is still selected I can hold down the cmd key and select the other cell range that I want.
Sep 28, 2011 - Hold down CTRL (or if using a Mac COMMAND) and SHIFT on the keyboard and then press the down arrow key. This will select all of the cells.
In this case that would be F5 to G6. And you see that the original range of cells that I had selected is.
